A Journey of Excellence, Leadership, and National Integration
Cadet College Ormara was established as part of the Government of Pakistan's initiative Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan, aimed at empowering the youth of Balochistan through quality education and integrating them into the national mainstream. Pakistan Navy took the lead in realizing this vision by establishing a premier cadet college at Ormara, thus creating new educational and professional opportunities for the talented youth of the province.
The idea for a cadet college in Balochistan was first proposed following the announcement made by the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Yousaf Raza Gilani, on 23rd March 2011, pledging educational support for the youth of Balochistan. Initially, the Prime Minister's Secretariat directed Cadet College Petaro to allocate 10–15 seats for Baloch students. However, Vice Admiral Tayyab Ali, Commander Coast (COMCOAST), proposed the establishment of a dedicated Cadet College in Balochistan, similar to other military colleges in Pakistan.
Subsequently, on 22nd June 2011, a working paper for the establishment of Pakistan Navy Cadet College Ormara (PN CCO) was forwarded to Naval Headquarters. The proposal received approvals at various levels—by the Chief of the Naval Staff on 1st March 2012 and by the Prime Minister on 21st May 2012. Commodore Fayal Malik was appointed as the first Principal on 27th June 2012, and the formal directive for the establishment of the college was issued by Naval Headquarters on 16th July 2012.
The first Board of Governors (BoG) meeting was held on 3rd September 2012 at Headquarters COMCOAST, during which several key decisions were made, including the approval of the college logo, admission quotas (50% Naval Cadets and 50% Provincial Cadets), eligibility criteria, and 10 self-finance seats.
Administrative and teaching staff joined on 17th September 2012, and advertisements for the induction of the pioneer batch were published on 7th October 2012. The first written test was conducted on 16th December 2012, followed by the second BoG meeting on 17th December 2012, which finalized the syllabus for Class VIII, proposed local seats for Ormara residents, and approved uniform designs.
Cadet College Ormara formally began its academic journey on 13th April 2013 at Bahria Model College Ormara, functioning temporarily at Jinnah Naval Base (JNB). The pioneer batch of 58 cadets joined the college that year. Civil works for the permanent campus commenced in June 2013, with the stone-laying ceremony of the Academic Block (Nishtar Block) held on 3rd September 2014 by the Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Asif Sandila and Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch.
The state-of-the-art campus of PN Cadet College Ormara spans 458 acres, comprising academic blocks, six cadet hostels, a cadets' mess and cafeteria, masjid, faculty residences, and extensive sports facilities including athletic grounds and a swimming pool. The construction contract was awarded to M/s Siddiqo (Pvt) Ltd at a cost of Rs. 350.22 million.
The college was inaugurated at its permanent location on 3rd August 2017 by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah NI(M). The main academic building, Quaid Block, is a modern architectural landmark inspired by classical and Islamic design elements. Covering 95,958 square feet, it accommodates up to 800 cadets and features spacious classrooms, laboratories, a library, auditorium, and faculty offices. The college officially shifted to its own campus on 7th August 2017, marking a new chapter in its development.
The pioneer batch of cadets graduated on 28th February 2018, followed by their ISSB examinations on 9th April 2018, where 21 out of 29 cadets received recommendations for armed forces commissions — a remarkable achievement for the newly established institution.
